horizontal blog layout

This is an idea for my blog layout, the general idea was to have a horizontal scroll displaying a list of text-based entries where the newest was displayed as the largest for more intuitive browsing.

The site consists of a simple header / menu which would allow the user to filter the posts by various criteria, mainly categories. When designing the layout I had a clear idea that I wanted it to be very compatible and accessible through various medias – this is also how I developed the idea of making a horizontal scroll.

The text-heavy layout would make it easily degradable on mobile devices, just as the horizontal based layout and scroll would make it more compatible with touch devices such as the iPhone.

The reason I chose not to proceed with this design was because I felt, that I in a higher degree than anything want (need) a website on which I can show of my work, which will more often than not, be based on images rather than text.

Secondly the format which would work nicely with the iphone for instance, would be less functional on most computers due to the incapability of scrolling horizontally on most mouses (which I of course didn’t think of at first since my Logitech MX Revolution and Mighty Mouse both scroll horizontally as well).

I like this design.
(When you say ‘vertical’ do you mean ‘horizontal’ ?)

Indeed, consider that a “brain fart”.
